Out and About Christmas Carol Singing 2017

Posted On: 27 December 2017

After two weeks of giving up break and lunchtimes to rehearse, Church Langley’s Out and About singers, comprising of 41 year 6 students, were ready to venture out into the local community to spread holiday joy and festive fun! As is now becoming the ‘norm’, requests for performances came flooding in, some even before the children returned in September! It is lovely to know that our reputation is preceding us and we are being contacted by these groups, rather than the other way round! One even mentioned that they were having members of the public ask when the children would be coming in to perform! Wow!

The singers returned to some old haunts (ASDA, Leah Manning Centre, and Church Langley Church) and visited some new people, such as these residents at Ashlyn’s Care Home and the Active Minds Alzheimer’s social group. Unfortunately, the inclement weather scuppered more of our public performances that were planned, but those that we were able to get to were, once again, hugely successfully.

The children sang beautifully and with gusto during all of their performances, many of which got the audience dancing at points and shedding a tear at others! There were a mix of traditional Carols and modern Christmas favourites, and even some choreography this year!
