Creative Week - Year 5 Art Work
In Year 5, the children took inspiration from the British artist Paul Bursnall and his paintings of harbour scenes. Paul Bursnall is an experienced artist who combines the unmistakable Naiive style with Cornish coastal influence. The children learnt that Naiive art is characterised by a childlike simplicity where there is often no sense of perspective. The children compared some of his paintings discussing similarities and differences and the techniques he had used. Before creating their own harbour scenes, the children developed their painting skills - blending and layering watercolours to add depth and texture as well as using aquarelles for the finer details.
