Art in Year 6 (2023-2024)

In Year 6, the children have created artwork in the style of Sandra Silberzwig – a contemporary Canadian artist. They used bright colours, geometric shapes and patterns to create interesting portraits. To celebrate Remembrance Day they painted a composition of poppies adding texture through the use of acrylic paints. They used half an image of a soldier to develop their portraiture skills through sketching and shading thinking about shape and proportion. During Multicultural Week, the children created their own artwork inspired by aboriginal art. They applied the dot painting technique to symbols, animals and used specific colours to add meaning to the painting.
