Art in Year 3 (2023-2024)

In Year 3, the children have been learning about the Scandinavian countries – Norway, Denmark and Sweden – and were developing their painting skills to create a scene depicting the Northern Lights. The children have learnt a range of watercolour techniques to blend and layer colour to add depth and detail to their paintings. During Multicultural wWeek, some of the children learned about the Japanese artist Hokusai and used the block printing technique to create their own versions of ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’ whilst others studied images of cherry blossoms before creating their own artwork. In addition, the children designed and sculpted their own clay teacup and saucer based on the characters in Alice in Wonderland.
