Mini-Olympics
Posted On: 02 July 2014
Church Langley Primary School welcomed more than 350 Year 1 and 2 pupils from schools across Harlow as part of the 2014 Sainsbury’s school games mini-Olympics.
More than 20 teams took part in the all-day event with 48 sports leaders made up of Year 5 and 6 pupils helping make sure the mini-Olympics ran smoothly.
Supermarket Asda donated fruit and water for all the children involved, who were also awarded a medal for taking part in the sporting event held at the Church Langley Way school.
PE co-ordinator Catherine Lewis said: “It is lovely to see the children enjoying such a myriad of sports and having such a wonderful time, even children who would not necessarily choose to participate in such events.
“We hope that the annual mini-Olympics festival encourages children to join in with more sporting activities in and out of school. I know that all of the participating schools would join me in thanking acting sports games organiser for Harlow, David Stacey. “He has ensured all of the competitions and festivals have been able to take place for Harlow pupils throughout the year.”
