Three Peaks Challenge
Posted On: 01 November 2013
A year ago, members of staff, decided that we wanted to work collectively to raise money for charitable causes close to our hearts, in our case Cancer Research and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). We have all been affected personally, in some way, by cancer and have seen the impact that it can have on families during our teaching careers. Similarly, we work daily with young people affected by diabetes, a condition which is undoubtedly on the increase. We wanted to raise money by participating in an event that we would find challenging, yet rewarding, so we set our sights on The Three Peaks Challenge.
Mission accomplished! On Thursday 29th May our team of 6 – four climbers and 2 drivers – began the 10 hour drive to Ben Nevis. Climbers began their ascent of Ben Nevis at 6. 30 a.m. and went on to conquer all three peaks – Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowden - in the ensuing two days. We received high levels of moral and financial support, for which we are truly grateful, and reached our sponsorship target, raising a staggering £3,000.11. Thank you so much to everybody who took part or donated in any way; this is a great collective achievement and we are immensely proud of all involved.
