World Book Day - 20 Years in the making!
Posted On: 28 March 2017
Children and adults throughout the school put in a huge amount of effort to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March 2017. Everybody was invited to dress as a character from a book that was first published in the last 20 years to coincide with both the school's twentieth year and that of World Book Day itself. There were a number of instantly recognisable characters such as Harry Potter and Hermione Granger, along with some less familiar ones such as Julia Donaldson's 'The Singing Mermaid'.
Classes spent the day sharing parts of the stories their characters belonged to, writing character descriptions and listening to stories read to them by teachers from a different Key Stage. It was lovely to celebrate a number of reading successes, with certain children receiving certificates in recognition of their progress in reading.
