Athletics title tops off an AMAZING summer!
Posted On: 07 July 2015
With 4 other schools unable to compete this year, Church Langley made the bold decision to field an extra team in this year’s Athletics Group C competition - that was an extra 54 children who trained alongside the original 54 children selected - to compete in throwing, jumping and running at Mark Hall Academy. Both teams were a credit to the school, training really hard and then giving it their absolute all come competition time. There were some incredible individual performances during the field events, as Church Langley won 7 of the 8 jumping events together with various top 3 placings in throwing. At the end of the field events, Church Langley had 73 points (first place); Church Langley B had 54 points (fourth place). The running events saw Church Langley A extend their overall lead with some strong sprints in windy conditions; all the hours of early morning training certainly paid off, as competitor after competitor made good starts before chasing down opponents and finishing strongly.
After many successful relays, where there were still a few nervous baton changes, Church Langley B finished in 6th place - a valiant effort against some strong runners. Pleasingly though the B team joined the Church Langley A team in celebrating the school’s victory - they had all contributed so much to the overall performance. 13 Years is an incredible achievement and thanks must go to all the staff who descended on mass to support and officiate at the event - not to mention the outstanding efforts from Mrs Pardoe and Mr Stacey, who morning after morning braved the elements to prepare over 100 children to perform to their very best. What a feeling to celebrate with so many delighted family and friends - well done Church Langley.
