Children Inspired by 'BBC Ten Pieces'

Posted On: 11 December 2014

On Wednesday 8th October 2014, children in Years 3, 4 and 5 had the opportunity to take part in a cinema screening which celebrated the start of the nationwide BBC classical music initiative, ‘BBC Ten Pieces’.

BBC Ten Pieces is designed to promote classical music and to inspire children to ‘get creative with the music’. The film we watched introduced the ten pieces with engaging and exciting short films, narrated by a variety of BBC celebrities who explained the stories behind the music and the composers as well as the features of the music.

The children were enthralled from the outset and came out buzzing, discussing their favourite pieces and how exhilarating it was!

Poppy said, “I loved it! I wasn’t sure what to expect but as soon as the music started it got really exciting. The music was really different; some pieces were loud and rattled our seats and others were really quiet and intense.”

As always, the children’s behaviour was impeccable and the staff at the cinema were very impressed, commenting on their politeness and manners.

We look forward to seeing the work and the variety of performances that the children will produce in the coming terms based on these Ten Pieces.
